Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems - Propulsion Division is looking for a R&D Lab Technician 3/4 to join our Research & Development team in our Promontory, UT offices.   

Role description & Responsibilities:

The Lab Technician will provide technical support to chemists and engineers in the R&D Lab on a variety of technical tasks.  Successful candidate will work with experienced chemists and engineers on analytical test equipment including chromatographic and spectroscopic instrumentation, viscometers, titrators and various other instruments and laboratory equipment.

Job Duties:

  • Performs a variety of moderately complex chemical and physical analyses on various materials

  • Compile results and assist in method improvement and development 

  • Testing will include general wet lab techniques, chromatography, spectroscopy and/or environmental procedures. 

  • Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas and preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided

  • Analyses and development of documentation/reports

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Practical Knowledge of methodology, lab tools & testing equipment

Experience Requirements:  

  • Must be able to qualify for an Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm (ATF) “Explosives Possessor” designation.

  • Must be disciplined to follow detailed instructions and comply with procedures

  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications

  • Working knowledge of basic lab equipment

Experience Preferred: 

  • Associate degree in Chemistry or similar technical degree

  • Prior Lab or R&D work experience

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience

  • Position can be filled one level higher, High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience

Salary Range: $54,000.00 - $90,600.00Salary Range 2: $64,700.00 - $107,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
