Position Purpose:  The Electrical Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers in the process of designing, developing, fabricating and testing electrical hardware and firmware for satellite subsystems.

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $125,000 - $235,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Location: Boulder and Lafayette, CO

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Key team member provides technical review of subsystem designs to ensure the spacecraft or component electrical system is compliant and verifiable at the fully integrated level. Subsystems include power management, command & data handling, attitude determination and control, RF hardware, mechanism control and electrical harnessing. 
  • Evaluate new internal electrical technology development and upgrades for the bus or electrical system architecture and implement design solutions for maximum SWaP value. 
  • Interface with cohort engineering teams (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal, etc.), Mission Assurance, AI&T, and other disciplines to develop, debug and resolve electrical solutions for space-based systems at all program phases from concept to on-orbit disposal. 
  • Adjudicate AI&T nonconformance's involving electrical subsystem interfaces. 
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment on a variety of R&D, proof of concept, and production programs. 
  • Support integration and test of embedded software (firmware) into hardware components. 
  • Ability to creatively utilize commercial, off the shelf (COTS) elements in space-qualifiable avionics designs. 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within Blue Canyon to maintain a positive and productive work environment. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned. 


Required Qualifications/Education: 

  • BS with 12+ years of experience, or MS with 10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering 
  • At least 5+ years of experience as a manager with responsibility for technical execution to include people task management, technical task management and cross-functional coordination 
  • Detailed design experience with "space flight qualified" electronics. 
  • Knowledge of electronics used for power distribution, power switching, mixed signal handling and processing, RF systems, and Experience in high-speed digital system architectures and closed-loop control systems. 
  • Experience specifying test equipment (STE/GSE) for automated script driven testing. 
  • Knowledge of grounding architectures for low noise systems. 
  • Experience with grounding for spacecraft subsystems; mitigation techniques for EMI/EMC/ESD; design/test requirements for aerospace hardware. 
  • Knowledge of harnessing to meet voltage drop, power and signal integrity requirements. 
  • Experience with design trades, design concepts, system specifications, system analyses and failure reporting. 
  • Analytical experience including FMECA, WCA, Reliability, RCCA, voltage drop and derating. 
  • Exceptional written communication skills, strong presentation skills and the ability to lead group discussions with customers and team members. 
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. 


Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.  BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
