Job description

Odysseus Space is looking for a full-time system engineer, who will help Odysseus Space to achieve its goals, in collaboration with the rest of the team. The engineer will join our headquarters in Luxembourg. Fluency in English, theoretical and hands-on experience in system engineering is required for the position.

About us

Odysseus Space opened in Luxembourg in 2019 and is developing its Cyclops laser communication solution to bring lightspeed connectivity from Space to ground. Starting from Low Earth Orbit, the company aims at connecting any point in the Solar System to the Earth. With Odysseus Space entering a new phase of diversification of our laser communication projects for commercial and defence applications, we are searching for motivated professionals to join our young & international team to work on the next-generation commercial products that will shape the space missions of tomorrow.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible of the system architecture and design analysis elaboration and validation

• Collaborate with other companies within consortiums to translate mission requirements into laser communication terminal requirements

• System performance modelling, simulation, and model validation

• Channel modelling, simulation and analysis, including atmospheric turbulence impairment analysis

• Build and maintain requirements databases, system architecture models and compliance matrices

• Perform technology trade-offs and technical analyses

• Keep track of the internal technical development of a project

• Define and ensure the design and verification of the interfaces between the different components

• Support system level and sub-system level testing, including lab, field and on-orbit tests

• Technical marketing support including customer briefings and writing proposals and white papers

The right candidate

• Holds a master’s degree in space engineering, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

• Has a strong background in complex multi-physics system design and/or experimentation

• Background in one or more of the following topics: free space optical system development, free space optical channel and impairment modelling and simulation, optical acquisition, pointing, and tracking systems, communication theory, communication system performance limitations

• Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and takes pride in high standard execution of tasks

• Is familiar with microsoft office suite and Teams or is able to get acquainted in a fast manner

• Is an outstanding verbal and written communicator in English with great interpersonal skills

• Has experience writing quality technical documentation • Is a reliable and fun colleague to work with
