As Manager of Sites & Development, you will be responsible for the development and management of ABL’s launch and test sites, including Mojave, PSCA/Kodiak, Cape Canaveral, Vandenberg, and additional future sites, including design, engineering, construction, activation, and site operations.  You will work together with the launch and test teams, as well as vehicle engineering, government affairs, business strategy, security, IT, and other company verticals as needed.  You will plan, lead, manage, and execute best-in-class launch solutions for high-cadence, modular launch, while maintaining stringent cost and schedule requirements. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Site Development
  • o    Lead the development and management of launch and test sites, including Mojave, PSCA, Cape Canaveral, Vandenberg, and future sites
  • o    Ensure all sites are optimized for current and future use cases, including installation of new test stand for long-term operational growth and provisions are met (e.g., protection from elements)
  • External Partner and Agency Interface
  • o    Collaborate with external partners and agencies to secure necessary approvals, licenses, and operations clearances, such as working with the FAA, Space Force, City/County/State, EPA, etc.
  • Launch and Test Site Operations
  • o    Oversee the operations of all launch and test sites, managing facilities technicians and site operations managers to ensure smooth and efficient site functionality
  • o    Ensure sites meet all regulatory requirements and readiness dates in coordination with the Biz Dev and Regulatory team
  • Property Acquisition and Optimization
  • o    Work with legal, programs, etc. in acquiring new properties, evaluating and determining the best use cases for each site
  • o    Plan and manage growth and development of test sties to support long-term operational goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience working in the aerospace, oil & gas, or construction industry with engineering, project management, people leadership, and hands-on field experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering management, construction management, or similar technical field.
  • Experience with ground support equipment assemblies, fabrication, install, & testing including mechanical systems, fluids systems, electrical systems, communication systems, lightning protection systems, integration facilities, and/or payload processing facilities.
  • Experience with engineering and construction codes and regulations.
  • Experience with AFSPCMAN 91-710 range requirements as well as DoD explosive siting requirements.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of experience engineering, building, and/or leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Advanced degree or training in engineering, engineering management, project management, construction management, computer science, or similar technical field
  • Experience designing, building, testing, or operating launch or recovery ground support equipment within the aerospace industry.
  • Experience working with Space Force, 45th SW, 30th SW, and/or NASA and other state & federal government offices.
  • Ability to lead teams, work autonomously, and to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to define work scope and define requirements and drive progress in an ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to create, track, & communicate budget, schedule, and progress.
  • Ability to work & execute in dynamic and austere environments.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel to HQ, launch sites, test sites, and production facilities. (Travel in excess of 60%)
This is the lowest to highest compensation range we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
