Job description

Your Mission

As Team Lead Launch Vehicle Valves, you will be responsible for the design and development of fluid control components of the on-board fluid system including design, manufacturing and testing.

More specifically, you will:

  • Be responsible for developing the technological roadmap, design tools and fluid control hardware and fulfilling and/or delivering it according to the timelines of the company
  • Lead, coordinate and coach the Launch Vehicle Valves Team. This includes recruitment, performance evaluations and growth-management
  • Collaborate with other Propulsion teams as well as Launch Vehicle teams to improve processes and to ensure product integration
  • Collaborate with manufacturing team to ensure that the designs are successfully translated into hardware
  • Manage short and long term development schedules of Fluid System
  • Plan and organize test campaigns, design changes / iterations and test / data reviews
  • Decide for hiring and technological decisions of fluid control related topics together with Head of Fluid System
  • Report directly to Lead Engineer, Fluid System
  • Coordinate team’s work packages and track system development progress
  • Will be seen as a role model for own and other teams portraying a positive image and a superb work ethic

Who you are and what you have

  • Master’s degree or higher in an Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in rocket propulsion / fluid control equipment development
  • Demonstrated expertise in cryogenic propulsion systems and especially in valves and fluid control equipment, proven involvement in practical development activities
  • Demonstrated deep domain knowledge with fluid control design, development and testing
  • Experience with leading a multi-disciplinary team
  • Hands-on experience on rocket propulsion development
  • Proven success in developing complex systems
  • Proven ability to manage risk and uncertainty for self and team within a dynamic priority-setting environment
  • Initiative, autonomy, and self-development
  • Passion for rocket propulsion and space
  • Ability to effectively collaborate on multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Highly organized and proactive with high attention to detail
  • Technical presentation and reporting skills
  • Fluent in English
