This position is located Lake Charles, LA.

The Navy P8-A is based on the Boeing 737- 800 platform. The P-8A operates in anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) roles. This is a maintenance and sustainment program performing depot level operations. 

* These positions are Service Contract Act (SCA) positions.

** These positions will be hired for Multiple Shifts.

*** This program is contingent on contract award and has an anticipated start date of October 2024.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

Roles and responsibilities of the Inspector will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Inspects mechanical final assembly installations of the aircraft such as fuselage, wings, flaps, landing gears, and tail assemblies.

  • Inspects systems such as hydraulic, pneumatic, oil, heat, and brakes.

  • Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products.

  • Perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional, etc.) on spacecraft components. 

  • Uses various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine.

  • This job has decision-making responsibilities with regards to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.

  • Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub-assemblies. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.

  • Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.

  • Work from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 5 years of additional education and/or direct experience in a quality assurance or inspection role

  • Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools

  • Strong Computer skills

  • Must be able to work onsite in Lake Charles, LA

  • Ability to obtain a clearance, if the program requires one.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7 or more yrs of Inspector relevant experience.

  • A&P/IA license

  • Ability to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel)

  • Able to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD Clearance

  • Ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications and related criteria

  • Understanding of GD&T

  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results

  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.

  • Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.

Salary Range: $35.25 - $38.77

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
