Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Planning and Operations Manager 3 that will report to the Tactical Space Systems Division Production and Operations Vice President. Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD) is an end-to-end mission provider of Space Security, Human Exploration, Space Science, and Global Commercial Communications capabilities. 

This position manages the Production and Operations team’s cadence and operational affairs within the leadership team.  The Production and Operations organization is a matrix operation within the division, providing talent, and hardware solutions.  The selected candidate will:

  • Guide opportunities for collaboration amongst the Production and Operations functional teams and across the business units and division.  

  • Work with Production and Operations directors, business management, and workforce planning teams to develop and maintain headcount vs budgeted labor.

  • Work with Production and Operations directors to assist teams with Cost Account Manager (CAM) development.

  • Assist in the preparation of operational reviews, track actions items, lead initiatives and special projects.

  • Help manage and establish metrics that measures our quality, affordability, and overall efficiency.

  • Ensure that the Production and Operations leadership team has a 60- to 90-day look-ahead at all delegations and commitment reviews.

  • Collaborate with the Production and Operations directors and the Engineering Operations Manager to ensure that the scope of programs is understood, and basis of estimates are approved.  

  • Partner across all functional groups and will have insight into all aspects of our business to include financials, program execution, staffing, division reporting, and strategy.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience – OR – master's degree with 5+ years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry or government contracting.

  • Experience with EVMS (Earn Value Management System) and as a CAM.

  • Demonstrated experience working across multiple functions of the organization, leading complex projects in support of organizational goals and objectives.

  • Active current/active Top Secret security clearance.

  • Technologically savvy with tools such as Microsoft Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, etc. to drive efficient collaboration and productivity.

  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete competing priorities and projects within critical deadlines. 

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with clarity and impact at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and work with others, including ability to interact effectively with senior level management.

  • Experience processing large amounts of information, synthesizing and integrating to meet various leadership team needs.

  • Expertise crafting professional PowerPoint presentations that are easily understood by senior leaders.

  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Engineering degree and/or STEM.

  • Experience with mentoring and knowledge sharing initiatives.

  • High energy, strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level, as needed.

  • Strong data analytic capability and attention to detail and accuracy.

Salary Range: $180,600.00 - $271,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
