Our Redwire Space business unit in Marlborough, MA, is accelerating humanity's expansion into space through the design and manufacture of mission-critical, high reliability optical and navigational sensors for satellites providing guidance, navigation, situational awareness, and control capabilities. These technologies have supported nearly 50 years of space missions from NASA planetary missions as far-reaching as Pluto to national security missions. 
 
Summary
 
We have a current opportunity for a Temporary Staff Level New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer for a period of up to 12 months, located at our facility in Marlborough, MA.  This role will support a DoD application for our Star Tracker Navigational Sensor. In this role you will lead the effort of working with our engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure a successful transition of our latest star tracker into manufacturing production.  
 
Responsibilities
  • Lead the effort of our Star Tracker New Product Introduction.
  • Work with our customer’s engineering team to assess our technology readiness levels (TRL) and manufacturing readiness levels (MRL).
  • Create and manage a plan to advance TRL and MRL of our star tracker to meet program requirements and timeline.
  • Through analysis and experimentation, validate manufacturing and test processes to ensure performance, quality, and scalability.
  • Work with quality and production to define, interpret, and develop quality standards for receiving, in-process, and final inspection in accordance with program requirements. 
  • Review and evaluate complex in-process rejections and trends and implement corrective action as needed.
  • Investigate and analyze any technical manufacturing issues. 
  • Provide technical assistance to resolve issues blocking successful project progress or completion.
  • Interfaces with customers, vendors, and all company departments to ensure efficient and effective processes are in place for the successful manufacturing and quality of the star tracker.
  • Identify risks and provide recommendations to mitigate.
  • Prepare and present regular status updates and milestone meeting updates (Critical Design Review (CDR), Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR), and Test Readiness Review (TRR), etc.)
  • Occasional limited travel may be required.
 
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience with electronic product development for aerospace applications.
  • Experience with compliance for manufacturing qualification processes.
  • Experience with coordinating and collaborating across engineering, quality, and production teams.
  • Experience with process mitigation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to interface with multiple individuals and teams.
  • US citizen
Desired Skills
  • Familiar with DOD Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) and Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA)
  • Can self-organize with minimal oversight.
  • Experience with workflow management tools such as Jira.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills  
  • Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills.  
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Adaptable and focused under pressure. 
  • Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
