SUMMARY

The MLV program starts with the Firefly 1st stage and Antares 2nd stage delivering cargo to the International Space Station via the Cygnus vehicle. The launch vehicle then converts to Firefly built 1st and 2nd stages to compete in the commercial, civil and national security launch space. As the MLV Program Manager, you will leverage your singular creative, programmatic and technical expertise to manage the development program. You will have the opportunity to take the vehicle from initial conception, up to first flight, first re-usable flight, and production. Working closely with Engineering, Production, Test, and Business Development, you will be responsible for bringing the next generation launch vehicle, MLV, to market quickly to meet growing customer demand. As the focal point for the MLV program, you will help enable this team by bringing together a cohesive approach to program schedule, technical development, clear budgeting, and market strategy – to develop the most reliable and cost efficient medium class launch vehicle ever flown.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the program integrated master schedule and costs, as well as a “bring to market” strategy.
  • Manage the high-level performance and unit cost requirements for proper market capture.
  • Manage the Chief Engineer and their integrated product teams to develop the full integrated Beta vehicle stages, including technical development of core matrixed engineering teams.
  • Help drive the overall architecture development and maintain the baseline through multiple flight demonstrations.
  • Partner with engineering to manage the vehicle cost, vehicle master CAD, mass model, performance model, interface documents.
  • Manage program risks (ID, mitigate, track) with the engineering, operations and test teams to deliver a flight ready vehicle.
  • Serve as point of contact for NASA and other Payload customers, and represent Firefly at conferences, reviews, and investor meetings.
  • Assist Business development or long lead acquisitions in negotiating contracts and statements of work.
  • Hiring, position creation, and management of program structure.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably for launch vehicle or other aerospace programs.
  • PMP or equivalent program certification (can bypass with sufficient experience)
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills leveraging MS Office, Atlassian Products and associated plug-ins
  • Demonstrated ability to track and improve program performance metrics
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing
  • Ability to obtain security clearance, (likely only Secret required)

Desired

  • MS in Aerospace Engineering or Engineering Management.
  • Familiarity with requirements tracking, Atlassian Confluence and Jira, and Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Demonstrated implementation of OKR’s or other time constrained focused
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO9001
  • Working knowledge of launch vehicle and pad development engineering requirements (AFSPCMN 91-710 and SMC-S-016/-025)
  • Master of API’s and objective data analysis for monitoring process performance
  • Active security clearance.
