What is the role?
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic “Technical Buyer” to complement the Global Supply Chain team in the task of sourcing and procuring materials and services for a variety of different R&D projects related to SAR satellites and HAPS. Are you ready for the challenge?
- Continuous search for alternative components and technologies for micro satellites and HAPS
- Continues search for relevant vendors for the above
- RFI/RFP/RFQs, orders, follow-up
- Close cooperation with R&D to understand technical requirements and needs
- Support in technical and lead commercial negotiations
- Ensure timely delivery of materials for R&D projects
- Define and manage optimal stock levels for defined component categories for R&D projects
- Manage the total procurement cost for R&D projects
- Ensure compliance with global supply chain processes
- Ensure vendors and components meet internal and external technical, regulatory and production requirements
- Conduct market intelligence research, ensure prototype designs have the right selection of components that enable long term lifetime of the product.
- Verify invoices from a technical perspective
- Validate both mechanical and electrical suppliers for prototyping manufacturing
Requirements
- The ideal candidate has an engineering background and a commercial mind-set
- 3-5 years experience in R&D or equivalent technical role
- 1-2 years experience in purchasing electrical components and working with relevant suppliers in the field
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Knowledge of electronic assemblies, schematic reading and simple component replacements.
- Knowledge of mechanical assemblies, interpretation of mechanical drawings, definition of requirements for mechanical suppliers based on drawings.
- Ability to lead and influence others
- Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent English proficiency.
- Any knowledge of aerospace or satellite industry; suppliers, technologies, parts and standards is a major plus
