Vast is looking for a Director of GNC Hardware & Test, reporting to the Senior Director, Flight Dynamics & GNC, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage responsible engineers developing procedures for confidence, acceptance, qualification tests of GNC components
  • Ensure responsible engineers timely coordinate with relevant functional groups in obtaining environmental test levels, test harnessing and ground support equipment
  • Ensure industry standards are met when leading and signing off on test readiness reviews
  • Manage end-to-end GNC tests during and after vehicle integration, both prior as well as at payload processing facilities
  • Manage GNC test schedules
  • Manage development of high fidelity GNC flight dynamics simulation and data management systems in support of GNC Monte-Carlo simulations
  • Lead GNC coordination with flight software test team to ensure hardware-in-the-loop testing of GNC components meets industry standards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or other engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of space industry engineering experience

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
  • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to easily navigate through different computer software programs
  • Ability to create and update request for proposals (RFPs), purchase orders (POs) and facilities work orders in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
  • Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, vendors, and customers
  • Logical and strategic approach to solving problems
  • Ability to read and understand basic floor plans
  • Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.

  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
Salary Range: California
$184,900$245,100 USD
