Vast is looking for a Director of GNC Hardware & Test, reporting to the Senior Director, Flight Dynamics & GNC, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

Manage responsible engineers developing procedures for confidence, acceptance, qualification tests of GNC components
Ensure responsible engineers timely coordinate with relevant functional groups in obtaining environmental test levels, test harnessing and ground support equipment
Ensure industry standards are met when leading and signing off on test readiness reviews
Manage end-to-end GNC tests during and after vehicle integration, both prior as well as at payload processing facilities
Manage GNC test schedules
Manage development of high fidelity GNC flight dynamics simulation and data management systems in support of GNC Monte-Carlo simulations
Lead GNC coordination with flight software test team to ensure hardware-in-the-loop testing of GNC components meets industry standards

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or other engineering discipline
8+ years of space industry engineering experience

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to easily navigate through different computer software programs
Ability to create and update request for proposals (RFPs), purchase orders (POs) and facilities work orders in an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to make independent judgments with limited information
Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, vendors, and customers
Logical and strategic approach to solving problems
Ability to read and understand basic floor plans
Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.

Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones

Salary Range: California

$184,900—$245,100 USD
