Position Purpose: The Sr. Electrical Engineering Technician will use skills and expertise to support the research and development labs by constructing test equipment and cables, executing tests, maintaining equipment, keeping areas organized, and a variety of other tasks.

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: Pay Range: $28.85 - $38.58 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Location: Lafayette and Boulder, CO (works at both locations)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for constructing, troubleshooting, calibrating, testing, and maintaining our equipment and systems. You'll ensure our equipment and systems meet established specifications.
  • Read and interpret schematics, system diagrams and requirements to aid in troubleshooting hardware under test.
  • Determine and place on order parts, hand tools, wire/cable, racks, etc., for maintaining and augmenting an engineering development lab.
  • Be knowledgeable/have experience using electronics assembly and test tools (Calipers, Multimeters, DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
  • Following test procedures, perform board/box level electronics
  • Assist with initial board turn on, debug and troubleshooting
  • Manage electronics laboratory, including:
    • Ensuring test and assembly equipment is maintained and calibrated.
    • Point of contact for equipment, supplies, software, test tools, and facility
    • Organizing laboratory and performing ESD bench
  • Interpret and work to engineering drawings, informal sketches, verbal instructions for modification of and production of electronic assemblies including multi-layer, SMT PCBAs and cable harness assemblies.
  • Ability to solder fine pitch components (TSSOP, 0402, QFN)
  • Plan, design and implement engineering test equipment to support DVT and cycle testing
  • Fabricate test cables, assemble STE/GSE.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within Blue Canyon to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • 7 or more years relevant
  • Ability to pass and maintain in house certifications, and J-STD workmanship standards and complete significant test certification tasks and testing with little supervision.
  • Desired: IPC J-STD-001/FS (Space Addendum)
  • Desired: IPC/WHMA-A-620
  • Ability to read and follow complex schematics, assembly drawings, and execute test
  • Expert skills at the fabrication and assembly of GSE test sets, STE racks, and J-STD solder of cable
  • Must be experienced at operating DMMs, digital oscilloscopes, function  generators, and programmable power supplies.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of Microsoft operating system and MS Office suites Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet searches of data sheets.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.  BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
