Job description
a.i. solutions is seeking a highly motivated Contamination Control Engineer (CCE) to join the ELVIS contract supporting the NASA Launch Service Program at the Kennedy Space Center. The CCE Engineer will provide oversight and execute contamination control processes and procedures from the design phase through launch processing to meet spacecraft requirements for our NASA customer. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission and work to continually exceed the expectations of our customers.
Essential Roles & Responsibilities:
- Support the NASA Launch Vehicle (LV) team in a wide range of engineering tasks
- Track and analyze environmental, materials, and process related characteristics that affect the spacecraft contamination concerns for launch
- Maintain frequent and concise communication with the NASA LSP Mission Integration Team, the Spacecraft/Payload customers, as well as the Launch Vehicle Contractor engineers to ensure mission success
- Review and understand Launch Vehicle Contractor processes, work orders, and procedures
- Perform facility walkdowns, hardware inspections, and intervene when needed to address contamination related anomaly resolution
- Provide guidance and expertise in support of spacecraft integration, requirement development, ground support equipment, and other launch vehicle and spacecraft activities and engineering oversight of cleanroom operations and protocols.
- Coordinate the integration and documentation of contamination requirements through the development, preflight preparation, of mission assigned systems and/or payloads
- Perform Interface Control Document (ICD) verifications
- Develop, review, and coordinate on program contamination control plans, test plans, procedures, personnel cleanroom training, and material and process specifications.
- Actively participate and contribute to NASA milestone reviews
- Evaluate, formulate, and present at NASA Engineering Review Boards (ERB’s) any contamination control concerns that affect future missions
- Travel occasionally, as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in clean rooms, contamination control, analysis, and spacecraft integration or related support
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Physics, Material Sciences and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related aerospace background or field of study
- U.S. Citizenship
- Successful completion of a government background check
Desired Background:
- Familiar with a variety of aerospace materials and process engineering subject areas such as metals, composites, adhesives, bonding, cleaning, failure analysis, manufacturing operations and related quality control concepts
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with a diversity of customers
- Ability to quickly connect in-person and in writing, and to actively listen and perceive the needs, values, or opinions of others
- Demonstrated leadership accomplishments professionally and personally
- Proactive in identifying and addressing challenges to include innovations that result in positive organizational impact
