We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Systems Engineer based out of McClellan, CA in the Sacramento area at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation.

This role is intended to be a Part-Time role and is contingent on funding and approval of the work needed.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification & validation, and supportability & effectiveness analyses for the total system. Analyses are performed at all levels of the total system product to include CONOPS, design, fabrication, integration, test, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer and product requirements into the total system solution that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirement allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Plan, execute, and close out program reviews and milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, AR, etc.).
  • Support the transition of the project to operations, maintenance, and sustainment in the field. Maintain existing operation procedures are up-to-date and develop new procedures as required. 
  • Interface with program and customer representatives across a range of management levels.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM and 14+ years of direct relevant experience; Master’s Degree and 12+ years of direct relevant experience; or PhD and 9+ years of direct relevant experience
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Systems Engineering process including translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge developing Interface Control Document across a variety of hardware and software interfaces.
  • Cognizant of systems development, defining requirements & interfaces, integration and test
  • Understand developing traceable verification documentation
  • Experience Managing existing operations procedures up-to-date to also include lessons learned from real-time performance
  • Ability to interface with program and customer personnel and partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current Top Secret level clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with third parties and developing partner / customer relationships
  • Mentor newer members of the operations and development team
  • Background in RF SATCOM communications chain development including antenna design & control, RF receivers, digitization, and fiber-optic backhaul requirements.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering process including preforming functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in authoring requirements verification and validation procedures, documenting traceability from top-level requirements through objective evidence.
  • Knowledge depth in design, development integration, test and operation of fault tolerant computing systems.
  • Practice leading exercises and witnessed demonstrations both in-factory and at field locations
  • Spacecraft mission operations understanding
  • Familiarity with Mission Operation Center architectures and interfaces
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25%
  • Active Top Secret level clearance with polygraph

Salary Range: $165,000.00 - $247,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
