York Space Systems is seeking a Director for Spacecraft Mission Operations. Mission operators will work with a small, dynamic team to support day-to-day operations. During periods of key deliverables or anomaly resolution, Mission Operations staff will be required to work day, swing, and night shifts.  Mission Operations staff will also create documentation and artifacts necessary to train and execute satellite operations.  The Director will be managing the Mission Operations staff as well as set and enforce policies and processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Hire, lead and develop a team of diverse technical mission operations personnel
  • Interface with program management, customer and other functional leadership in a collaborative manner
  • Direct on-console tasks for real-time operations and anomaly investigations for multiple missions
  • Lead the development of procedures for mission operations and spacecraft mission planning
  • Lead and the development and execution of operator and customer training
  • Monitor health and safety of space and ground segments
  • Support mission integration into the operations center
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent leadership skills in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to deliver technical briefings to high level customer personnel
  • Have a positive “can-do” attitude
  • Work well in both a team environment and executing individual tasks
  • BS degree in engineering, computer science, or relevant technical field
  • Previous satellite operations center experience
  • General knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, orbit dynamics, and ground systems
  • Experience with the following:
  • Functional management, hiring, people development, mentoring
  • Space situational awareness
  • Program management concepts (product delivery, schedules, proposals, task management)
  • Training material development and delivery
