Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain software for processing and analyzing data from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC).
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to create tools for data visualization, analysis, and archiving.
  • Write and optimize code in languages such as Python, C++, and IDL.
  • Develop and maintain databases for storing and querying lunar data.
  • Create and maintain documentation for software tools and workflows.
  • Debug and troubleshoot software issues in a Linux environment.
  • Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency within the operations center.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices for software development.
  • Support the integration and testing of software with LROC systems.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are preferred. Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field preferred 
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, and IDL.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with database management and SQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of planetary science or remote sensing is a plus but not required.
