The Deployables Operating Unit, an organization within Northrop Grummanโ€™s Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, Mission Enabling Products (MEP) is a leading designer, producer, and supplier of spacecraft components that power and enable satellites of all classes. Products i Deployables Operating Unit, which specializes in deployable systems for spacecraft such as solar arrays, instrument booms, extendible support structures, and reflector boom antennas/deployable booms/masts. Our products are on virtually every U.S. satellite built in the last 20 years.

Our Oxnard facility is seeking an Engineering Technician to support our Engineering Test Operations team in Oxnard, CA

This position may be filled as a Level 2 or a Level 3.

Overview

Reporting to the Operations Test Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technician, will be responsible for the execution of test procedures, as well as performing post-test data processing and reporting to engineers. The qualified candidate will have ownership of their work through all phases of product development, production, testing, and integration supporting internal and external teams as required.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide test and technical support to engineers in various disciplines for a variety of technical tasks.

  • Execute comprehensive component and system-level test plans, procedures, and test events

  • Participate in test planning and test readiness reviews

  • Analyze measurement requirements and equipment measurement tolerances.

  • Define and maintain documented best practices for test processes and equipment.

  • Contribute to maintaining and improving test equipment and infrastructure.

  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as component and systems-level test results and engineering design changes.

  • Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

  • Maintains engineering documentation and reports (procedures and test reports)

  • Support internal and external customersโ€™ needs.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and solve test problems and aid manufacturing, inspection, and engineering issues.

  • Analyze data and provide reports in a variety of customer formats.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2 :

  • High School diploma or GED, with 2+ years experience as a technician in a manufacturing/engineering environment

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

  • Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

  • Availability to work overtime and weekends as needed

  • US Citizenship required

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:

  • Same as above but with 4+ years experience as a technician in a manufacturing/engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with working around delicate spacecraft hardware is an advantage

  • Certification in engineering disciplines

  • Experienced working in cleanroom environment and environmental test areas

  • Some college preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Due to the size and functionality our products, must be able to stand for extended periods of time

  • Ability to manipulate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to work from a scissor lift or climb ladders

Salary Range: $53,000.00 - $88,300.00Salary Range 2: $62,900.00 - $104,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
