Then you should join Lockheed Martin Space’s Optical Talent Center (OTC) to support hardware development for space applications as an Signal/Image Processing Engineer.

As a Signal/Image Processing Engineer within OTC, your responsibilities will include:
• Leading a small team of experts in alignment and characterization of electro-optical instruments, including both alignment of the optical system and focal plane alignment and characterization
• Development of systems analysis artifacts, including alignment plans, verification documentation, and presentation of those results to senior leadership
• Responsibility over the full lifecycle of requirement verification for key performance requirements for instruments such as modulation transfer function and wavefront error
• Mentorship of junior employees

We are looking for a strong background in computer science and software engineering. You should demonstrate effective verbal communication, commitment to collaborative technology development, develop concise and professional technical presentations, and deliver briefings to peers, leadership, and US Government customers. You should be able to work in a classified environment. You would typically have a Bachelors and 9 years of professional experience, a Masters and 7 years, or a PhD.

You should be familiar with:
• Optical design and analysis
• Use of optical metrology hardware, including interferometers, laser systems, reference optics, stages, and gimbals, including setup and checkout
• MATLAB, or other scripting languages
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's in an engineering discipline, computer science, physics, mathematics or related field

• Experience aligning, integrating, testing and analyzing electro-optical systems, as a test lead or test conductor

• Strong understanding of image phenomenology and modalities and analysis of associated products in service of instrument integration and characterization

• Experience developing and implementing in C++, Python, or Matlab

• Must have an ACTIVE Top Secret clearance with an investigation within the last 5 years, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
Desired Skills:
• Master's degree is preferred


• Experience aligning and characterizing optical systems

• Experience with phase diversity phase retrieval techniques

• Ability to explain complicated concepts in a straight forward manner

• Active TS/SCI clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $114,100 - $218,600 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $131,200 - $247,300. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
