Northrop Grumman Defense Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Thread Lead on the Sentinel Systems Engineering team. This role will be located in Roy, UT, and will be at the Staff Engineer Level.

What You’ll Get To Do 

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and technical lead with end-to-end / top-to-bottom responsibility for the successful implementation of the OT thread for the Sentinel Program. This includes but is not limited to the following specialty disciplines: Safety, Parts Materials & Processes, EEE, and Human Factors. Sub-thread Leads are the thread leads for their specific specialty area
  • Partner with the program's SEIT leadership and Office of Chief Engineering (OCE) to ensure the OT thread technical baseline is developed with high quality
  • Brief program leadership, customers, and stakeholders on the Specialty thread at both program and technical reviews
  • Establish an effective system of working group / coordination sessions with stakeholders across the development community to ensure effective horizontal and vertical thread integration
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across program, customers, and stakeholder communities
  • Engage in formal and informal mentoring to support knowledge transfer and talent development
  • Provide oversight of all systems engineering products related to the SPC thread/Sub-threads. These include:
    • Requirements definition and allocation, with cognizance down to the lowest level
    • Architecture and interface definitions
    • Functional flows and CONOPS scenarios
    • Performance / allocation budgets, analysis, and margin management
    • Trade studies
    • Verification planning, including coordination of required and expected verification products down to the lowest applicable level
    • Verification and validation execution, including authorship of requirement verification reports and customer coordination
    • Solution definition / design artifacts produce a compliant realization of the thread capability
    • Integration and test planning and procedure development
    • Risk and opportunity identification and associated execution planning
    • Technical Performance Measure (TPM) reporting and management

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline from an accredited university and 14 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 12 years with Masters, or 9 years with a PhD
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • Experience in team environment with leadership responsibilities
  • Experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • ICBM experience
  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production
  • Experience across one or more specialty disciplines (Safety, E3, PM&P, Human Factors)
  • Experience with implementing and using model-based systems engineering tools, practices, and methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $142,500.00 - $213,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
