Job Overview & Responsibilities

  • Develop initial mechanical concepts to support trade studies and requirement development, and mature these through preliminary design.
  • Perform design modifications of existing thin-walled pressure stabilized launch vehicle hardware including GTAW fusion and resistive spot/seam welding.
  • Perform new design concepts for structurally stable launch vehicle hardware using friction stir welding.
  • Perform initial structural, dynamics, and/or thermal analyses of design concepts.
  • Work with other technical disciplines to ensure the mechanical designs achieve verifiable design requirements and meshes smoothly with other elements of the design.
  • Trace and present requirement flow down into design solutions and analyses results at design reviews.
  • Support prototype hardware design, build, and development/risk reduction testing to enable successful final design implementations.

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with the mechanical design and analysis of aerospace structures, including development of CAD models, optimization for manufacturing / producibility / usability, strength and fracture analysis, dynamics analysis, and/or thermal analysis.
  • Experience with aerospace systems including thin-walled pressure stabilized launch vehicle structural applications.
  • Proficient with Teamcenter NX or CREO, MS Office, MS Project.
  • Proficient in drawing standards.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, including development of specifications and statements of work.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ULA mechanical design and analysis processes and procedures
  • Applicable experience with ULA launch vehicles

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $98,339.00 - $153,653.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
