EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for SMTS – Software (Network Management System) in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position is located in our Germantown, MD office.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform a lead role in the planning, design and implementation of application development activities required for the testing, verification and integration of the applications features, utilities, and tools to be employed in the company’s next-generation satellite Network Management System (NMS).
• Develop, implement and optimize simulation tools to allow for automation testing of new functionalities of the Network management System. 
• Plan and implement functional and performance testing for critical features of the NMS (e.g. service domain, flexible payload, SNC and RFGW diversity, etc.); record and track testing results using JIRA and DETS tool to ensure that the functionality of application features are fully verified prior to release to the production environment. 
• Be responsible for the further development and maintenance of certain development tools (based on the Node JS language) to be used internally to automate regression testing of software and maintain and update all tools and scripts in the GitLab version control system.
• Implement testing of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in development using Postman Tool to test their functionality. 
• Lead the planning and execution of development projects for network application tools to meet specific requirements for monitoring network status and for auditing configuration settings on the system. 
• Continuously develop new or enhanced application scripts, primarily employing Python and Node JS, to automate testing and validation operations, and to verify staging activities performed for new versions of the company’s NMS; integrate these scripts with Jenkins to be executed automatically at regular intervals.
• Plan, set up and maintain application test beds, with the scale of the production database, to be used by different teams across the organization for effective testing and debugging. 
• Plan and implement configuration operations on the satellite ground network prior to new service launches; monitor and provide analysis on any emerging irregularities. 
• Provide technical training regarding System Integration and Verification development operations to all development teams engaged in NMS deployment.

Basic Requirements: 

• Master’s degree in a field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering and three years of full-time equivalent experience in the position or in a Software Developer, Computer Programmer, or Quality Assurance/Tester position. 
• As an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree in a field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering and five years of full-time equivalent experience in the position or in a Software Developer, Computer Programmer, or Quality Assurance/Tester position will be acceptable.

Special Requirements: 

• 12 months of experience employing either Python or Node JS to develop scripts for the automation of application testing and verification tasks.
• 12 months of experience employing GitLab and Jenkins automation for testing
• 12 months of experience employing JIRA and Confluence for reporting and tracking test results.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
