Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Principal Software Engineer / Sr. Principal Software Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop API tools to collect data from back-end databases and provide information on the development status of a system, report any changes made to the system and how it impacts the rest of the system, and communicate relationships of requirements to features.
  • Synthesize software requirements into verification requirements, software test objectives, success criteria, and required resources for software and system level tests and demonstrations.
  • Support the development of software requirements and detailed integration software test plans, procedures, test readiness reviews (TRRs), test data and test reports.
  • Execution of software qualification and acceptance testing per those requirements, plans and procedures.
  • Develop Automated Testing Solutions: Utilize and expand upon our custom automation software library to create efficient and effective testing solutions.
  • Participate in internal and customer software test planning working groups.
  • Support program reviews and customer delivery (CDRL) development
  • Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment specific to software.
  • Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, testing houses, software development engineers and other stakeholders involved in the testing process.
  • Review software test plans, procedures, and reports, witness testing as the Cognizant Engineer
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications: 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Principal Software Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelor’s in relevant field of study, 3 Years with Masters, 0 years with PhD or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • 3-5 Years Experience developing software/writing code/software test in C/C++ AND Python.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and help provide solutions across teams/sites.
  • Familiarity with Software development processes
  • Experience in Object-Oriented Programming languages and/or Scripting languages
  • Experience operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tools sets (JIRA, Confluence)

  • Sr. Principal Software Engineer: 9 Years with Bachelor’s in relevant field of study, 7 Years with Masters, 4 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • 7-9 Years Experience developing software/writing code/software test in C/C++ AND Python.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and help provide solutions across teams/sites.
  • Familiarity with Software development processes
  • Experience in Object-Oriented Programming languages and/or Scripting languages
  • Experience operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tools sets (JIRA, Confluence).

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance (awarded within the past 6 years) with Special Access Program (SAP) certification
  • Experience with integrating and testing embedded software
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers
  • Experience using and interacting with APIs
  • Experience with database structures
  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience in test automation tools and procedures
  • Experience in analyzing software requirements and developing software tests
  • Experience with distributed version control software (Git, Mercurial, SubVersion)
  • Experience with IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM)

Salary Range: $92,600.00 - $139,000.00Salary Range 2: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
