EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for SMTS - Software in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position is located in our Gaithersburg, MD office.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform a lead role in the planning, scheduling and implementation of application development activities required to design, deploy, and support Network Management Systems (NMS) for use in satellite broadband network operations.
• Plan the overall architecture at the systems level for NMS solutions and lead the efforts of junior staff to implement these designs as code.
• Collaborate with multiple internal teams to complete requirements gathering, testing, support and troubleshooting purposes.
• Plan and implement web development employing HTML, Java, JavaScript , AngularJS, Angular8, Grails.
• Design data manipulation functionality within applications and improve database query performance through indexing using Oracle PL/SQL to write triggers, views, procedures, and functions.
• Plan for and lead the testing of developed solutions, create appropriate automation test cases, and direct the overall testing effort of the project team.
• Plan for and implement the deployment and post-deployment support of developed solutions; design automation solutions for deployment employing Shell Scripting; lead the deployment in multiple production environments in the form of Hotfixes and provide on-call support for multiple worldwide deployments.
• Research emerging technologies and frameworks that may be used to upgrade existing application systems and design Proof-of-Concepts that may be presented to company management for approval.
• Lead design meetings as part of the Agile development effort; and mentor junior staff regarding organization practices and standards for software development.

Basic Requirements: 

• Master’s degree in a field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering and 3 years of qualifying experience in the position or in a related software developer or software engineering position.
• As an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree in a field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering and five years of experience in the position or in a related software developer or software engineering position will be acceptable.

Special Requirements: 

• Three years of qualifying experience developing solutions employing Java, JavaScript, HTML.
• Three years of qualifying experience employing the development frameworks Spring and Hibernate.
• Three years of qualifying experience developing solutions that implement Oracle or PL/SQL databases.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
