Vast is looking for an Shift Lead, Additive Manufacturing, reporting to the Supervisor of Additive Manufacturing, to support the development of the components and systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Hawthorne location. 

Shift hours:

  • Second Shift: 3PM-11PM 
  • Split Shift Potential 

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee day-to-day procedural additive shift specific work. 
  • Own larger projects related to additive platforms, post processing, and quality control. 
  • Conduct daily team meetings to communicate goals, handovers, and expectations. 
  • Work with our supervisor to coordinate work schedules and assignments to optimize productivity and ensure project coverage. 
  • Work closely with manufacturing planners for efficient scheduling and prioritization of jobs. 
  • Continual optimization of additive platform operations. 
  • Ensure safety protocols are optimized and followed. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience with metal additive manufacturing technology and 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team or project(s). 
  • Knowledge of depowdering, EDM, machining processes. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make timely decisions. 
  • Extensive experience operating, troubleshooting, performing maintenance on large scale multi-laser powder bed platforms. 
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of team management. 
  • Previous experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to standards. 
  • Ability to analyze data and implement process improvements. 
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and drive innovation within the organization. 

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work split shifts and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
Salary Range: California
$36$51 USD
