About the Role

As an Engineering Technician V, you will be acknowledged as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), giving you the opportunity to apply your advanced skills and expertise to carry out various precise tasks in TPS, including tile bonding, meticulous tile repair, and thorough tile bond verification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee BV Chuck/Pressure Pad Control

  • Filler Bar/Seal Tab Bond

  • Laser Scanning

  • Rigid Tile Bond

  • Tile Step and Gap

  • Tile Repair

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a related field of study, at least 10 years of relevant experience

  • A higher-level degree may substitute for experience

  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications

  • Comprehensive understanding of the use of standard laboratory test equipment, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, Oscilloscope,  Pitot static equipment, other measurement equipment, hand tools, and power tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience Bonding Thermal Protection Tile

  • Reactionary/Vacuum Bonding

  • Has extensive experience with hand tools used during general Thermal protection Tile installation processes.

  • Understanding of Bonding verifications

  • Previous experience with Laser locating projectors

  • Previous experience with clean room and ISO level cleanliness

  • Be able to mentor, train, guide, and inspect the work of team members

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, NASA, the US Department of Defense or US Military

Additional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps

  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity

  • Frequently requires vision abilities to include close, distance, depth perception, and telling the difference between colors

  • Frequently requires hearing abilities to include discerning different tones and volumes

  • Frequently lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.


Working Conditions:

  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)

  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

  • Occasionally exposed to loud noises

  • Safety Sensitive Position:

  • Responsible for the safety and security of people or property

  • Inspects, handles, or transports explosives, dangerous or hazardous materials

  • Inspects structures, equipment or vehicles

  • Performs Aviation related duties

  • Operate or supervise vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery
