As a Trade Compliance Officer, you will support compliance with international trade compliance laws and regulations, including UK, EU and US (ITAR/EAR). Reporting to the Trade Compliance Manager and as a linchpin in the International Trade Compliance team, you’ll have the chance to work closely with the UK, EU and US Trade Compliance teams and with business SMEs to enable business success and ensure NGUKL’s regulatory compliance. You’ll be at the forefront of protecting national security interests.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain UK export licences through registration or application; ensure compliance with the NGUKL UK export licences
  • Process export, import and UK Customs transactions and associated ITC requirements
  • Support accurate export and customs classification determination in coordination with internal Technical Advisors, and maintain this classification information within relevant company systems/tools (e.g. SAP)
  • Completion of export control travel documentation
  • Completion of external classification information requested by NGUKL’s customers
  • Maintain local export and import records for NGUKL exports and imports
  • Track UK licences and US authorisations usage
  • Assist with the development and implementation of localised Trade Compliance guidance or work instructions as required by NGUKL business activities
  • Support the NGUKL Trade Compliance Manager in organising and providing training to all employees, and independently providing training where required
  • Carry out due diligence activities, including Denied Party Screening transactions, resolving hits where required
  • Generate shipping invoices and coordinate movements into and out of the UK
  • Engage with freight forwarders/customs brokers to support NGUKL business activities
  • Act as the main Trade Compliance point of contact for certain projects, providing advice and assistance to NGUKL employees regarding how to engage the ITC-related processes required to meet the required standards and procedures

We are looking for:

  • 2+ years’ experience working in an export control/trade compliance role
  • Experience in UK customs practices and compliance for both export and import
  • Experience in interpreting regulations, providing guidance and authorisation management for UK and US export control regulations
  • Strong communication skills and experience with providing training
  • Experience in the Defence/Aerospace industry
