Job description

Ursa Major was founded to address a critical shortfall in the U.S. industrial base and bring a new model to aerospace and defense systems: we design and manufacture the world’s leading propulsion systems for space, hypersonic applications, and missile systems.

Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team – a team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.

The journey to space starts with the engines.

We are seeking a motivated Expeditor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic approach to hardware movement and coordination across multiple departments. You must be willing to match our fast-paced cadence and thrive with rapid change.

As an Expeditor you are aiming to improve hardware and information flow throughout the manufacturing process. You will work closely with Material Control, Planning, and Engineering to keep hardware on schedule. You will support basic ERP transactions, escalate nonconformance resolution, and coordinate within work centers to keep hardware flowing. You will report on hardware status and support planning and scheduling.

The right person for this role will be passionate about communicating with, supporting, and serving others. They will be able to keep many tasks, part numbers, and serial numbers in their mind. They must also enjoy troubleshooting, finding creative solutions to disruptions, and working with teams to continuously improve processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Track hardware and schedules
  • Report on hardware status and production shortages/stoppages
  • Ensuring technicians, inspectors, and engineers are never waiting for parts if they are available.
  • Help to prioritize work queues
  • Escalate issues impacting production and development hardware schedules
  • Support basic problem solving on the manufacturing floor
  • Edit manufacturing orders and add/remove components within Odoo (ERP)
  • Coordinating with engineers to ensure accurate part numbers, revisions, and quantities.
  • Working closely with technicians to continuously improve hardware and information flow.
  • Assisting manufacturing and supply chain teams on projects and improvements.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering with clerical tasks including work instructions, bill of material maintenance, change management, and process improvement
  • Support Material Control with tasks as needed to keep schedules.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a hardware-focused manufacturing organization
  • Hands-on experience with complex hardware
  • Experience in the space or aerospace industry
  • ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Odoo, Katana, Sage, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Infectiously positive attitude, especially during busy or hectic periods.
  • Demonstrated experience self-prioritizing and executing in a dynamic and busy environment.
  • Able to lift and transport parts and tools weighing up to 40lbs.

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $25.00 - $35.00 / hour , determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we are evaluating individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs. Most importantly, we are excited to meet you, and see if you are a great fit for our team. What we can’t quantify for you are the exciting challenges, supportive team, and amazing culture we enjoy.
