We are seeking a talented and experienced Web Application Developer to join our growing team.  

Responsibilities: 

• Develops web forms, templates, database-driven web pages, web tools, and dynamic features within web pages designed to enhance, sustain, and support the ideas and vision of the organization in compliance with established styles and standards
•  Provides technical consultative suggestions and recommendations to users for continued enhancements to web content and features
•  Works closely with users to understand requirements and security needs; develops and presents initial design ideas and associated tools; tests functionality to ensure objectives are achieved; integrates user-developed content
• Identifies and troubleshoots errors and/or problems with web-based applications; works collaboratively with involved stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution; escalates as appropriate
• Participate as either leader or team member in a wide variety of projects to develop and improve routine procedures through the use of innovative and technology-supported solutions; prepare associated documentation and end-user training 
•  Remains abreast of technology directions, initiatives, and trends within the scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance, and recommendations

Requirements: 

Associate degree in Information Technology, Business, Communications or closely related field AND two (2) years web content, graphic design or electronic publishing experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. 

Desired Qualifications 

• Experience creating and using data formats such as JSON, YAML and CSV
• Understanding of, and experience interacting with, relational databases
• Experience with user interface (UI) design
• Experience with Ruby on Rails
• Experience writing command line programs with Ruby
• Experience with Linux (including command line)
• Understanding of MVC
• Familiarity with responsive design
• Version Control (Git or SVN)
• Web Analytics
• Command line or scripting experience
• Experience with websockets-based applications
• Experience with web-based GIS components
