Position Purpose: The Facilities and Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, HVAC, and other building systems. They will also operate the company van and coordinate the van schedule.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $27.00/hour

Job Responsibilities:

  • Safely operating a cargo delivery van with no speeding instances, stop sign/stop signal violations, tailgating or distracted driving occurrences, or other unsafe driving events.
  • Provide timely and accurate delivery of parts, equipment, spacecraft between BCT locations, to testing facilities and other locations.
  • Load/unload products and materials.
  • Coordinate van schedule/calendar.
  • Maintain BCT vans. Regular interior and exterior cleaning.  Schedule Preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, minor plumbing, minor electrical, repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Ensures facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly manner and comply with company standards.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Assists administrative team when required. Including but not limited to: unloading the van, removing recycling/trash from storage areas, stocking supplies, setting up for meetings, and helping put out snacks/drinks if admins are out.
  • Assists EHS manager with simple tasks as needed.  Conducts company regulatory safety and environmental audits and actions based on preestablished checklists.
  • When required, follow standard procedure to schedule, meet and escort contractors. 
  • Reviewing safety documentation and performing corrective actions from audits in coordination with EHS manager, as required.
  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Move and rearrange lab equipment, furniture, and office equipment.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Demonstrates a level of technical skills and knowledge in all areas of electrical plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall repair/install, heating, cooling, and refrigeration.
  • Capable of following instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Possess a high sense of urgency and take ownership of assigned projects and tasks.
  • Ability to identify problems, determine possible solutions, and actively work to resolve issues.
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.


Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office, laboratory, and manufacturing environment. The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, hand tools, power tools, ladders, machines, and fumes. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields. BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.  However, factors such as candidate flow and business necessity may require BCT to shorten or extend the application window.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires the ability to perform a wide range of strenuous physical and manual tasks indoors and outdoors. Physical ability to stand and walk 0-2 hours at a time up to 6-8 hours total in a day. Requires the ability to lift to 25 pounds frequently, and 75 pounds occasionally.
