Associate Research Scientist

Our world-class team includes experts in all aspects of spacecraft subsystems design, development, and test, on-orbit operations, and safety.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Associate Research Scientist to join the science team. The Associate Research Scientist will play a key role in supporting upcoming lunar lander missions, as well as planned future lunar orbiters.
Responsibilities:
The applicant will also support mission planning and execution within relevant engineering and science constraints. This includes developing sophisticated algorithms for terrain mapping, line-of-sight communication, and Earth/Sun visibility.
Produce in-flight calibration routines to improve imaging datasets further and develop algorithms for data reduction to support mission success and overall data usability.
The successful applicant will lead a planetary remote sensing research team. They will identify significant research problems and develop research and analysis strategies that result in peer-reviewed publications.
Requirements:
PhD focused on planetary remote sensing
Ten years + of remote sensing research experience
Proficient in numerical modeling and simulation with MATLAB or equivalent
Proven success in obtaining NASA research funding
Experience with data reduction and analytics
Commitment to developing advanced image processing routines to expand the usability and science applications of collected datasets
Preferred Requirements:
Experience with optical remote sensing and instrument calibration
NASA spaceflight team experience
Proficient in using, analyzing, and generating SPICE kernels
