Job Summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Senior Finance Manager for the Office of the Chief Information Officer/Business Integration Office. As a Senior Finance Manager, you will provide leadership in all areas of financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities for the Enterprise Information Services (EIS), Facilities, and Security & Safety Divisions. Specific responsibilities include annual and multi-year budgeting, development of financial forecasts and planning scenarios, development and implementation of financial and operational metrics, dashboards, and capital expenditure planning. Responsible for improvements in financial and business processes as dictated by the Group CFO. Will serve as a trusted financial advisor to all levels of the EIS, Facilities, and Security & Safety divisions, providing the financial data, trends analysis, and predictive analytics that the corporation needs to deliver its value proposition to customers and to meet its goals. Will work closely with the Group CFO to ensure a consistent vision and implementation of financial policies, practices, and processes throughout the Company.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA, offering a hybrid work model that combines 3-4 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Serves as key financial business advisor to executive and/or senior leadership; playing a key role in the development of strategic plans and business-related processes and implementation of near-term and long-range strategies to achieve corporate goals 
  • Develops financial forecasts and manages budgets for both overhead and capital portfolios, including long-term facilities capital planning strategies
  • Provides key inputs into the corporate budgeting process and communicates budget decisions back to the organization
  • Informs Group CFO and Divisional leadership on financial trends and reporting unit performance; recommends corrective actions to achieve financial plans 
  • Identifies, defines, and deploys metrics and key performance indicators for management to make informed business decisions and implement effective operational strategies  
  • Updates financial forecasts monthly and provides standardized reporting and analysis of budget variances and other key financial metrics to the Group CFO
  • Utilize business intelligence tools to build standardized financial analytics dashboards and provide leadership team with ad hoc analysis  
  • Educates divisional technical management on financial concepts, approaches and relationships, cost structures, and business models  
  • Generates and recommends value-informed purchasing and investing on behalf of the General Manager and/or VP; assist leaders with business case preparation to ensure value-driven investment decisions  

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business or related field
  • Ten or more years of experience in financial strategy, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Direct experience managing teams
  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with peers, direct reports, customers, and leadership 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changes as needed 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - can organize complex materials and concepts in a manner that is clear, persuasive, logical and builds a consensus  
  • Demonstrated experience as a resourceful and creative solution finder who can develop options with a broad perspective on the potential impact to the corporation 

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • MBA, CPA, and/or advanced degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field
  • Two or more years of experience in a US Government (Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)) contracting environment
  • Knowledge of governmental and government contractor budgeting systems and practices  
  • Knowledge of cost accounting standards (CAS)  
  • Expertise in strategic planning and deployment of Finance services for a geographically dispersed organization 
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI and Alteryx 
  • Prior experience as a Financial Manager, or equivalent is desired 
  • Prior experience within a research or FFRDC environment, is desirable 

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
