Job description

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth’s orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.

The New Glenn launch vehicle is the next step in achieving this vision using a reusable launch system crafted to take astronauts and payloads into space. As a Simulation Supervisor under direction from the Training Manager, you will implement the training program through strong leadership, management skills and resourcefulness, integral to a hard-working team responsible for leading, developing and training launch, ground and test operations crews. Top candidates require strong drive, attention to detail, organization, working long hours, and the ability to multi-task. We are looking for leaders with “Greater than Self” perspective and “Extreme Ownership”. The position operates primarily from our Orbital Launch Site at Launch Complex 36 in Cape Canaveral, FL.

In this role, you will define, develop and implement training scenarios for nominal and emergency / off-nominal procedures for integrated launch crews. Launch scenarios are paramount to meeting established training criteria and evaluating proficiency and readiness for launch operations. You will also support development for future training infrastructure, such as additional simulators or mock launch vehicle hardware.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define, develop, and implement integrated team & individual training. Training modalities will include simulations, rehearsals with flight hardware and/or mockups, tabletop walk-throughs, and classroom academics. Training includes include nominal, off-nominal, emergency, and compound failure scenarios.
  • Evaluate launch crew readiness through simulated scenarios
  • Prepare, configure and test training infrastructure in preparation for training events.
  • Assist in the development & delivery of operational crew discipline training such as Crew Resource Management (CRM)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in defining, developing, validating, and performing simulation and classroom training for safety-critical operations, including inserting anomalies and evaluating crew response
  • Experience authoring training plans for a real-time, safety critical operational environment
  • Engineering and/or operational experience with complex aerospace vehicles and systems such as hydraulics, power, propulsion or high-pressure pneumatics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Learn flight hardware/scripting procedures and associated tools
  • Strong “on-the-loop” / “on radio” communications skills from aerospace, aviation, naval, or similar control room environments
  • Self-starter with strong coordination and project management skills.
  • Work across multi-disciplinary teams, building strong working relationships through trust and positivity
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering, or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a Flight Controller, Flight Test Engineer, Aircrew, or control room environment
  • Experience developing and implementing training for maintenance engineers and technicians
  • Experience with facilitating CRM principles and anomaly resolution processes
  • Experience with Learning and Training Management Systems

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
