ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE

As an end-to-end space transportation company, Firefly Aerospace is on a mission to enable our world to launch, land, and operate in space – anywhere, anytime. Our launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles provide government and commercial customers with full mission services from low Earth orbit to the surface of the Moon and beyond. Headquartered in north Austin, Texas, Firefly is looking for passionate, hardworking innovators to join our team and help fuel our successful trajectory into space.

Summary

Ever dreamed of building the future of spaceflight? At Firefly Aerospace, we're not just launching rockets, we're revolutionizing space travel. As our Director of Avionics Production, you'll lead a team of passionate professionals crafting the intricate nervous system of our spacecraft – the avionics.

This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to conduct a symphony of cutting-edge technology.

You'll be a visionary leader with a hands-on touch. You understand the complexities of avionics production, from meticulous wiring harnesses to high-reliability electro-mechanical assemblies. But you're also a strategic thinker, able to lead and inspire a team to achieve ambitious production goals across multiple program initiatives (Alpha, MLV, Blue Ghost, Elytra, etc).

Here's how you'll orchestrate our success:

  • Lead a high-performing Avionics Production team: You'll foster a collaborative environment where your team can excel in building the flight hardware that guides our spacecraft.
  • Ensure the highest quality standards: From precise wiring harnesses to complex assemblies, you'll set the bar for excellence and ensure everything meets rigorous aerospace standards.
  • Embrace continuous improvement: You'll be a champion for innovation, always seeking ways to optimize processes and drive efficiency while maintaining the highest quality.
  • Bridge the gap between engineering and production: You'll ensure seamless communication and collaboration, translating engineering designs into flawless production realities.
  • Be a data-driven leader: Leverage data and metrics to track progress, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve your team's performance.
  • Maintain a focus on safety: Safety is paramount. You'll ensure your team adheres to all safety regulations and fosters a culture of safety awareness.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in avionics production or a related field.
  • Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of avionics systems, wiring harnesses, and electro-mechanical assembly processes.
  • A commitment to quality and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with industry standards like IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-610.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in a space or aerospace industry.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Military or civilian aircraft production experience.

Firefly offers outstanding benefits for our employees, including generous health, dental and vision plans with low plan deductibles, parental leave, educational reimbursement, short term disability, and flexible PTO options.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Firefly Aerospace, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with Firefly is governed based on merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.
