Job description

Astranis is on a mission to bridge the digital divide by connecting the four billion people worldwide who currently lack internet access. We're doing this by building the next generation of smaller, more cost-effective spacecraft to bring the world online.

As a team, we’ve launched two satellites into orbit,  signed ten commercial deals worth over $1 billion in revenue, raised over $500 million from top global investors, and recruited a team of over 300 world-class engineers. We all work out of our (legendary) San Francisco office, which was once used to build ships during the World Wars.

Our satellites, which operate from geostationary orbit (GEO), weigh only 400 kg and utilize a proprietary software-defined radio payload. Each satellite can connect over two million people, and we’re very excited for the impact we’ll soon have in the Philippines, Peru, Mexico, and more!

Backed by substantial funding and a passionate, collaborative team, we offer a rewarding work environment where you'll learn and make a significant impact, no matter where you are in your career.

Apply and join us on our journey towards global connectivity!

International Relations Associate

Associate roles at Astranis typically last for a minimum of twelve weeks, and are salaried roles designed for applicants who already hold their bachelor's degree from a four-year university.

This is your opportunity to join the burgeoning field of space diplomacy as an International Relations Associate at Astranis. You will work closely with our external relations teams, helping forge relationships with foreign governments to support commercial partnerships, ensure smooth market access, uncover new business in public sector verticals, articulate and promote our unique solutions to tackling the digital divide, and contribute to our mission of expanding global connectivity. Less important than your academic or professional background though is an innate curiosity about the world and a desire to see technology unite, not divide, humanity.

Role:

  • Support the company’s development, organization, and management of relationships with foreign governments, NGOs, multilateral development banks, and other international institutions.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on global trends and topics relevant to Astranis business around the globe.

  • Support the Public Relations and Marketing teams by honing our messaging and customizing outreach campaigns across global media and fora.
  • Develop and build global partnerships to support existing company endeavors, and uncover new such opportunities in untapped areas.
  • Brief and represent the company internally across teams and support external presentations to foreign governments and executive stakeholders.

Requirements:

Are you eager and driven to contribute to a greater cause at a dynamic and innovative startup? We're seeking individuals who exhibit:

  • Goal-driven mindset with a habit of taking ownership and following through in ambiguous situations.
  • Natural curiosity about global affairs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically across media and modes.
  • Keen attention to detail paired with robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent, concise writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, particularly with presentations and spreadsheets or databases.

Bonus Skills:

Candidates with expertise or experience in the following areas will stand out:

  • Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and data-driven storytelling.
  • Working, interning, or studying overseas.
  • Foreign language fluency.
  • Participation with international programs, organizations, or in other fora.
  • Experience or familiarity with foreign government projects and decision-making.
  • Previous entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Experience in either the space or telecommunications industries.
  • CRM or other database management experience.

If you're an ambitious applicant looking for a challenging and impactful role in a dynamic, mission-driven environment, Astranis is the place for you. Come be a part of our innovative team, where every effort contributes to transforming the world's connectivity landscape!
