About the Opportunity: The Senior Vice President, Business Development is responsible for executing and driving growth strategy for Voyager Space’s Exploration Business Segment. The SVP will report directly to the business segment president and will also collaborate closely with the Voyager Space Chief Revenue Officer. The SVP will define the strategic approach for winning new opportunities, direct the development and execution of capture activities, and ensure that all Business Development efforts are focused on the needs, issues and challenges of the customer. Responsible to the Segment President, the SVP will drive growth of the P&L by leading Business Development for the Segment, directing the efforts of a team of professionals and contributing directly to key capture and proposal efforts where needed. In coordination with the CRO, the SVP will foster collaboration with the other Voyager Business Segments and ensure consistent execution of corporate BD processes. 

We are looking for a growth-oriented, innovative, passionate enterprise business leader to join our team This role is critical to the future growth of Voyager Space, and this individual will lead the charge identifying growth drivers and growth opportunities, working closely with the Segment executive leadership team. The successful individual will be highly strategic, accountable, and energized by working collaboratively across the organization to enable growth and business outcomes. This individual will have a passion for solving complex and strategically important business problems in an agile environment, coupled with intellectual curiosity to identify new ideas and challenge the status quo. The SVP will have extraordinary stakeholder management and leadership skills, and the ability to translate their ideas for different audiences in written presentation and verbal formats. We require an experienced leader and communicator, an innovator and critical thinker, and someone who can dive deep into individual efforts as needed.  

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Direct Business Development activities for multiple lines of business within the Segment, growing business with existing and new DoDcivil, and commercial customers
  • Manage Segment BD staff (account assignments, resource allocation, career development) 
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships, shaping opportunities to increase win probability.
  • Fully own the pursuit and bid/quote process and lead the bid/no-bid decision process. 
  • Conduct Segment-level approval reviews for bids within delegation of authority and conduct Voyager-level approval reviews for bids above Segment delegation of authority.
  • Support long-term product/offering roadmaps for Segment lines of business.
  • Coordinate across Segments to foster customer communication and messaging, competitive/market analysis, and value-add offering creation and joint bids.
  • Develop, maintain, and grow the Segment pipelineand manage monthly metrics reporting at both the Segment and Voyager levels.
  • Work closely with Segment leadership to support development of the annual operating plan, drive long-term strategic planning, and foster a collaborative relationship between Business Development, LOB leadership, and supporting functions.
  • Spearhead competitive assessment by tracking competitors and their initiatives and analyzing competitive threats from within and outside the market.

 

The ideal candidate for this role: 

  • 15+ years’ experience in business development and capture management
  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred (MBA or technical degree)
  • Business development expertise in Civil, DoD, and National Security markets as both a prime and subcontractorwith an understanding of best practices and a proven track record of winning Federal/Civil/Commercial business
  • Deep understanding of both the Federal acquisition process and commercial sales
  • Experience in the aerospace and space industry sectors.
  • Negotiation skills for securing internal agreement and closing with external customers.
  • B&P budget development and management.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills in both written and verbal form with the ability to effectively navigate, influence and foster honest dialog.
  • Strong consultative skills and proven results working as a trusted advisor to drive business value for customers.
  • Ability to manage and lead a geographically distributed business development team.
  • Experience using CRM/sales software.
  • Flexibility for overnight travel of 50% or more.

 

Work Location: This is a remote position with a travel expectation of 25-50%, or as needed to succeed in the role.
