Job description

As a Spacecraft Development Engineer at Impulse, you will work on diverse projects to support rapid spacecraft development and operations, while collaborating closely with a fast-paced, agile team.

Responsibilities

Drive requirements definition and verification, system level analysis, risk mitigation strategies, payload integration, and on-orbit operations planning
Support formulation of all phases of a spacecraft lifecycle
Own the delivery of a full spacecraft or major subsystems through critical phases of the lifecycle
Work with the design and manufacturing teams to produce hardware
Ensure that the performance and function of the hardware and software meets intent
Support system-level test preparation, planning, and execution
Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science related field
3+ years' of hands-on experience working with mechanical, fluids, or electrical systems
3+ years' of demonstrated ability in conceptual design, fabrication and testing of hardware
Demonstrated ability of taking project ownership and working well in a small team
Experience with CAD to design hardware

Preferred Skills and Experience

Master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering with emphasis on laboratory and/or practical applications
Demonstrated proficiency in basic principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials
Familiarity with analysis programming such as MATLAB, Excel, etc.
Prior experience in development and/or testing
Experience in a startup or agile development environment

Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
