Job description

As a Spacecraft Development Engineer at Impulse, you will work on diverse projects to support rapid spacecraft development and operations, while collaborating closely with a fast-paced, agile team.  

Responsibilities

  • Drive requirements definition and verification, system level analysis, risk mitigation strategies, payload integration, and on-orbit operations planning 
  • Support formulation of all phases of a spacecraft lifecycle
  • Own the delivery of a full spacecraft or major subsystems through critical phases of the lifecycle 
  • Work with the design and manufacturing teams to produce hardware
  • Ensure that the performance and function of the hardware and software meets intent
  • Support system-level test preparation, planning, and execution
  • Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science related field 
  • 3+ years' of hands-on experience working with mechanical, fluids, or electrical systems
  • 3+ years' of demonstrated ability in conceptual design, fabrication and testing of hardware
  • Demonstrated ability of taking project ownership and working well in a small team
  • Experience with CAD to design hardware

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering with emphasis on laboratory and/or practical applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials
  • Familiarity with analysis programming such as MATLAB, Excel, etc.
  • Prior experience in development and/or testing
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
