Job Overview & Responsibilities

A Propulsion Engineer 4 on the Vehicle Systems Team at ULA is responsible for:

  • Performing strength, fatigue, and fracture analysis for propulsion systems and components for recurring vehicle systems.
  • Creating analysis models, performing hand calculations, and have an understanding of analysis best practices to provide strength inputs and recommendations for new designs and installations.
  • Reviewing and approving 3-D engineering layouts, 3-D models, designs / drawings, and 2-D drawing changes for a variety of mechanical system components.
  • Making engineering design recommendations with consideration of thermal, mechanical, and pressure loading using appropriate material properties, configurations, safety factors, etc.
  • Supporting internal peer reviews, tabletop reviews, and formal design reviews as needed.
  • Supporting fast paced design/analysis cycles and be able to evaluate hardware non-conformances to support production activities.
  • Participating in internal/external design reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and may be expected to present analysis products at preliminary/critical design reviews (PDR/CDR).

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Experience in the following Finite Element Analysis tools: FEMAP, NX Nastran, NASGRO.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with: Fluids and thermodynamics design and analysis, Structural design, Dynamics analysis.
  • Proficiency with mechanical design utilizing NX and Team Center.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring a team

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $125,750.00 - $196,522.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
