We are looking for a talented Weld Manager to oversee our flight vehicle and ground support equipment welding operations. The Weld Manager will lead a team of TIG and MIG welders, ensuring that welding projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both TIG and MIG welding techniques, as well as proven leadership abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and mentor a team of welders, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement. Responsible for hiring, performance management and training of team.
  • Strategize and coordinate welding activities to meet production schedules and project milestones.
  • Conduct regular inspections of welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications, completing root cause investigations when issues arise.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize welding processes and resolve technical issues, being a driving force for continual improvements.
  • Champion a safety-first mindset by enforcing strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Establish best practices and standards for the welding team, authoring specifications and driving work order improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with welding codes, safety regulations and company policies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience in welding management.
  • At least 5 years as a Weld Production Manager or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and materials.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience with TIG and MIG welding.
  • Welding certifications (e.g., AWS) are desirable.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Ability to analyze data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel between sites may be required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
  • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
