Vast is looking for a Software Engineer II, Security, reporting to the Information Security Manager, to assist in the deployment and maintenance of the organization's growing information security infrastructure. The Security Software Engineer shall support the secure development of Vast’s various mission-critical products.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain security technologies, solutions and systems for Vast’s mission-critical products
- Partner with various engineering teams to ensure software and hardware technologies are designed and maintained in a secure manner
- Rapidly iterate on security tooling and design new applications to support security as the company grows
- Collaborate with the Information Security team to peer review current practices and to foster an effective and positive work environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years experience with building security services and configurations (i.e. IAM, short-lived certificates, API security)
- Development experience in any modern programming language (including but not limited to Python, C++, Rust, Go)
- Experience building security applications in the cloud
- Proficiency using the command line, writing shell scripts, and an understanding of the GNU/Linux operating system
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Familiarity with threat modeling using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK
- Experience in hardening and monitoring various AWS resources.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
- Enjoys end-user facing roles for support and interfacing with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in fast-paced environment during critical launch and mission operations
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbal
- Collaborative mindset
- Problem solver with a bias for action
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Willingness to work overtime, or weekends to support critical mission milestones
