Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) / Space Mission Systems (SMS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Spacecraft Payload & Platforms Program Manager to join our Common Products team in El Segundo, California.

This position will report directly to the Common Products Executive Leader and responsibilities include the following.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees who are overseeing Spacecraft Payload and Platform Products to develop and maintain program/products plans/capabilities in support of space products and ensure all hardware successfully integrates to meet mission objectives.
  • Manages and oversees the development of all product plans, working in conjunction with Engineering, Operations, and Program Leadership teams ensuring hardware is delivered that meets program requirements.
  • Takes ownership of all facets of the program plans that are used to sell-off quality space hardware by creating and managing plans that ensure all products are delivered on time and on cost.
  • Regularly reports performance to plan to Common Products Executive Leadership in addition to Senior Executives, Customers, and Program Managers.
  • Leads and mentors the Common Products Leads, promoting a positive work culture, supporting regular customer engagements, and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Uses excellent communication skills to interact with all levels of the Boeing organization.
  • Manages employees and managers performing business management activities in the area of Program Management.
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies, and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, assists with the technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • In Conjunction with Engineering provides oversight in technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Establishes Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) program goals and establishes a PMBP improvement plan.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees and managers.
  • Regularly takes on and assigns action items and is responsible for driving them to closure.
  • Identifies and manages risks, issues, and opportunities, and ensures they are incorporated into the program plan.
  • Full accountability for IPT execution, delivery on cost and schedule commitments, and technical management of products from the development, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Accountability includes exceeding customer expectations, mission success, program execution, and performance against company financial objectives.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • More than 10 years of experience in a leadership role, leading teams or projects to successful completion.
  • More than 10 years of experience in Satellite or Space Programs.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • More than 10 years of experience with Satellite Assembly Integration and/or Test.
  • More than 10 years of experience working with Supply Chain Management.
  • More than 10 years of experience with budgets, development of quarterly EACs, program health metrics, earned value, and critical path.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time (typically one week per quarter).

Summary pay range: $192,950 - $261,050
