We are on the hunt for an Intermediate Electronics Validation and Test Engineer/Designer on our  eam at our Montreal  office.

 

Role:

The Intermediate Electronics Validation and Test Engineer/Designer will be responsible for design, integration and commissioning of specialized electronic test equipment for testing mixed signal (Digital & RF) electronic products used in satellites and other space-based systems. The chosen candidate will work closely with PCB designers, Digital (FPGA), Software and RF designers as part of a product integration team responsible for developing complex test systems and validating flight equipment. A dynamic work environment will allow for exposure to many facets of electronic product development and allow the candidate to excel in a well-rounded manner.

 

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the design of complex test setups and electrical ground support equipment
  • Understand test and validation requirements and make recommendations to the team lead to improve efficiency
  • Write and execute test plans for space-flight electronics qualification
  • Recommend the test solutions including custom racks, HIL systems, TVAC testing and instrumentation, cabling setups, custom test fixture and related apparatuses.
  • Support development of embedded systems, FPGAs and Microcontrollers and pilot the integration of such in the test system
  • Develop framework for automation of test sequences and support implementation
  • Work with the product design team and test professionals to review test data and produce compliance matrix.
  • Support, troubleshoot and debug test equipment and flight hardware
  • Develop experimental techniques necessary to drive product technology development
  • Prepare and conduct test-readiness reviews for both internal and external stakeholders.

         

        Qualifications

        • Engineering degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in testing electronic systems, high-speed digital communications (20 GHz+), and RF communications
        • Knowledgeable in test automation and scripting
        • Knowledge/experience with MATLAB & Python
        • Familiarity with CI/CD framework and pipelines (Jenkins) is an asset
        • Good knowledge of various protocols such as RS-485/422/232, I2C, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, IEEE802.3, Gigabit Ethernet, SerDes and other serial interfaces and peripherals.
        • Understanding of analog and digital circuit design. Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware irregularities. Ability to interpret electrical schematics. PCB design experience.
        • Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscope, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, arbitrary waveform generator, SPI bus analyzer, JTAG interface, etc.
        • Experience with test processes such as thermal, vacuum, shock, vibration, dynamic burn-in, life-cycle, EMI, etc. is an asset
        • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
        • The ideal candidate would be a multidisciplinary, pro-active, enthusiastic, and a result-oriented team player

        Special Considerations:

        Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
