York Space Systems is searching for a Level I or II Thermal Engineer experienced in thermal design and analysis. The role is responsible for ensuring all satellite components are designed to operate within temperature limits through the entire life cycle of a mission.  The ideal candidate for this role enjoys using on-orbit data to improve the design and analysis of future missions and can develop empirical tools for designing similar systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform integrated thermal analysis to determine radiator/heater sizing and external coatings required to maintain all elements of the SV in thermal limits. 
  • Support hardware developers in selection of materials, process, and tests that comply with thermal design. 
  • Coordinate thermal interfaces between spacecraft subsystems.  
  • Flow down interfaces and environments to component suppliers. 
  • Develop test and verification approaches and levels for thermal verification of components. 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related field. Master’s degree preferred but not required. 
  • 0 to 3 years of spacecraft thermal engineering or other relevant experience. 
  • Solid understanding of heat transfer principles and applications for Spacecraft.
  • Proficient in Thermal Desktop/AutoCad. 
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills, able to work effectively within an organization and convey decisions, direction, and conclusions in a manner meaningful to multiple audiences. 
  • Proficient in documenting analysis results.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies, tools, and methodologies in thermal engineering and spacecraft systems.
  • Experience in all phases of the spacecraft development lifecycle preferred but not required. 
  • Experience in integrated software/hardware verification and testing preferred but not required. 
  • Ability to gain a security clearance.
