Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking Staff Software Engineer and Test – 12977. This position will be located in Huntsville, Alabama and will support the Sentinel Program.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Additionally, possess excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management. The candidate will have a leadership role in the team as an engineer, coach, and mentor to less experienced team members. The candidate should also be able to perform various tasks that of a System, Software and Test Engineer. The following describes some responsibilities for this position:

•  Synthesize software requirements into verification requirements, software test objectives, success criteria, and required resources for CSCI level tests and demonstrations.

•  Development of software requirements and detailed integration software test plans, procedures, test readiness reviews (TRRs), test data and test reports.

•  Execution of software qualification and acceptance testing per those requirements, plans and procedures.

•  Participate in internal and customer software test planning working groups.

•  Support program reviews and customer delivery (CDRL) development

•  Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment specific to software.

•  Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements.

•  Collaborate with systems engineers, testing houses, software development engineers and other stakeholders involved in the testing process.

•  Review software test plans, procedures, and reports; witness testing as the Cognizant Engineer

•  Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications: 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 14 Years with Bachelors in relevant field of study; 12 Years with Masters; 09 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
  • U.S. Citizen and Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • System Engineering experience on an embedded and/or application software system
  • Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and help provide solutions across teams/sites.
  • Familiarity with Software development processes
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
  • Experience operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tools sets (JIRA, Confluence)

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Top Secret security clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • 1+ years’ experience as team lead and team development.
  • Experience with integrating and testing embedded software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers, and customers.
  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience in test automation tools and procedures.
  • Experience in analyzing software requirements and developing software tests.
  • Experience in software lab integration and deployment to hardware processes and procedures.
  • Extensive experience with DOORS requirements management and verification planning.
  • Security certification such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CSSLP.
  • Candidate will require ability to rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance to engineers.

Salary Range: $157,500.00 - $236,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
