Summary
We currently have a Remote opportunity for a Staff Systems Engineer to join our ‘Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test’ (SEIT) team in Goleta, CA. In this role you will work on a variety of program tasks ranging from System Architecture trade studies, Requirements and Verification Management, Test Plan creation, Solar Array Power Management and Analysis, and Specialty Engineering, Materials and Process, Reliability, Radiation, etc. You will have the opportunity to work on projects of all sizes including such high-profile programs as International Space Station and Gateway Lunar Space Station Solar Arrays.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Lead SEIT Engineer on a project team for satellite subsystems and components
- Establish clarity of the stakeholder requirements, and system interfaces
- Develop, evaluate, and interpret mission level requirements to Space Vehicle, System, and Ground requirements
- Requirements Management including customer collaboration, requirements tailoring, requirements decomposition and flow down, creation and maintenance of verification compliance matrices
- Communicate requirements to the project team functional roles
- Develop verification plans and coordinate activities with different engineering functions
- Test Plan generation based on requirements verification matrix
- Evaluate test data and generate reports to verify compliance to functional and performance specifications
- Create specifications and Statements of Work (SOW’s) for major subcontract items
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from management and customers
- Occasional travel will be required
Ideal Experience
- Bachelor of Degree in Systems Engineering or other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with minimum of 8 or more years’ of relevant experience
- Experience working on aircraft or spacecraft systems
- Experience with NASA/DoD lifecycle reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR)
- Experience with Space/Aerospace industry standards (e.g. NASA, IEEE, AIAA, MIL Specs)
- Experience with proposals and requirements development
- Experience working with specification, SOW’s and test plans
- US citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired Skills
- Self-motivated in applying engineering principles, concepts, and practices of mechanical/ aerospace engineering to independently perform assignments
- Experience in system architecture and system integration
- Experience developing test plans and managing hardware test campaigns
- Experience with requirement tracking tools such as Jama or Doors
- Experience in evaluating and reporting hardware test results
- Ability to research and work with vendors on space hardware products
