Summary
 
We have a current opportunity for a Manufacturing Technician, Level 4 located at our facility in Longmont, CO. Assists engineers in the manufacture and test of prototype and flight deployable structures and space system components. Responsible for setting up and operating equipment, and assembly and test of hardware, while adhering to pre-established guidelines and specifications. Relies on knowledge of the field, judgement and previous experience to perform the functions of the job. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works independently and under limited supervision and engineering guidance within the scope of projects. Requires experience and knowledge of industry standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the fields of aerospace, engineering and/or science.
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, assemble, and test deployable and space system hardware and ground support equipment with direction from engineering.
  • Facilitate hardware test activities such as functionality, thermal vacuum, shock and vibration using internal equipment and capability external test vendors
  • Assist engineers with designs, provide feedback with respect to manufacturability and user friendliness
  • Work with engineers to troubleshoot and solve technical issues
  • Aid with developing and documenting prototype concepts, manufacturing processes, and testing procedures
  • Assist in generating and maintaining technical design and process documentation in an AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Perform manufacturing assembly procedures, rework, and repair on spaceflight hardware
  • Modify mechanical parts using hand tools such as common handheld power tools (drills, Dremel, etc.) and machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, drill presses, bandsaws, etc.)
  • Identify faulty parts during the assembly process
  • Cross train in multiple areas of specialty such as electrical assembly and soldering, structural testing, etc.
  • Model exemplary professional conduct as a representative of Redwire
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Equivalent Technical Degree with 0-2 years of experience or High school diploma or equivalent with 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Familiar with technical drawings and schematics, and the various symbols, perspectives, units of measurement, notation systems, visual styles, and page layouts used in technical drawings
  • Experienced soldering under microscope down to 02-01 product size
  • Familiarity with inspection equipment such as calipers/micrometers, dial indicators, gauge pins and blocks, etc.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, ability to handle small parts such as fasteners as small as #0-80
  • US Citizenship required
Desired Skills
  • 5+ years of relevant aerospace work experience
  • High mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Extensive knowledge of field.  Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
  • Mechanical assembly of flight hardware
  • Possess strong problem solving and communication abilities.
  • Listen, communicate, and collaborate with production team manager, supervisor and team lead
  • High standard of quality workmanship
  • Experience with electrical fabrication, advanced soldering, and wire harness assembly
  • Use of a variety of manual and electronic equipment
  • Current, IPC J-STD-001 with Space Addendum and IPC/WHMA-A-620 with Space Addendum certifications
  • Working knowledge of standards including GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y14.5), GEVS, IPC 7711/7721, ASTM Test Methods
  • Experience with gravity off-loading and testing large structures
  • Continuous improvement philosophies with the ability and interest in advancing existing facilities and developing new capabilities

$33.00 - $44.00 hourly

How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.  Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set may be considered for higher pay.
