About the role

Muon seeks an RF Test Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team.  The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual that will be able to design and run RF-specific tests on a wide variety of subsystems.

This role will be located on-site 5 days per week at our headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers to develop and execute RF specific tests to qualify current and new designs.
  • Author and execute procedures for component level acceptance testing.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain team to kit parts, test, and prepare for flight builds.
  • Help with setup and modification of test and development hardware in the lab.
  • Run radiated and conducted emissions testing on systems and subsystems of the satellite.  Debug where emissions may be originating from in the system.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with RF-specific test equipment including VNAs, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience with the setup and testing of antennas
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot electronics and test equipment issues 
  • Ability to rigorously follow written procedures and document results
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges each week

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Thermal testing & chamber experience
  • Fine pitch rework & soldering ability
  • Experience building RF cables & other harnesses
  • Certification in relevant build/rework standards
  • Knowledge of EMC standards and procedures, as well as knowledge of radio communications fundamentals 
  • Test equipment automation experience in a high level scripting language such as Python, Perl, Bash, etc

ITAR/EAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. protected person as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Salary Range:

At Muon Space salary is only part of our total compensation package. In addition to salary, Muon Space provides equity compensation as well as benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan, life insurance, and an employee development program. We also offer three weeks paid vacation for new employees, along with 12 paid holidays and unlimited sick time, along with paid parental leave to name a few of our benefits. 

The salary range for this role is $95 -$195K and will depend on a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
