The Payload & Ground systems team in Azusa, CA is seeking an on-site manager machining manufacturing level 1 to support our manufacturing machining team.

The Manager Machining Manufacturing 1 role supervises employees who form and shape metal by various fabrication, machining, and/or welding processes. This individual will direct team activities with the goal of manufacturing the best possible products on-time while maintaining a safe working environment, continuously improving processes, being an asset to customers, and developing employees in knowledge/competency resulting in a more effective team. Candidates must be flexible and able to respond positively to changes and challenges. They should be able to think outside the box to solve problems and willing to go the extra mile to ensure department goals are met. The ideal candidate will embrace the objectives and the culture of the company and can integrate them into daily decisions/actions consistently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the Machine Shop team.

  • Provide motivation, support, guidance, and constructive feedback to employees, developing and training them while building understanding of and alignment with company culture and goals.
  • Provide decisive leadership giving clear direction in everyday and pressure situations.
  • Handle time & vacation approval, hiring selections and decisions to discontinue employment.

Manufacture the best possible products on-time.

  • Schedule machines and staff for maximum productivity.
  • Coordinate all labor and materials in the machine shop.
  • Identify and implement processes and procedures to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Make recommendations on capital expenditures to improve capacity and quality.
  • Monitor productivity, utilizing charts and soft knowledge to maintain maximum productivity.

Be an asset to Machine Shop clients.

  • For Production Team – High quality parts delivered on-time.
  • For Planning Team – Accurate data on labor hours, capacity, and schedule.
  • For Engineering Team – Rapid response for R&D and feedback regarding capabilities, costs, and print redlines.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree & 5+ years of experience in a machine shop/manufacturing environment, OR a High School diploma & 9+ years of related experience in a machine shop/manufacturing environment.
  • Decisive leadership skills & problem-solving under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Organization skills with strong attention to detail
  • Technical/computer skills (Excel, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP systems; SAP expertise preferred
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD secret security clearance (US Citizenship Required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field & 6+ years of related experience
  • 3+ year's experience in personnel management
  • Current & active DoD security clearance

Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $142,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
