Trajectory Analyst/Mission Designer

There is a lot of work required to make a mission successful, and it all starts with having a good plan. A Trajectory Analyst/Mission Designer will know how to optimize the path so we can get from point A to point B. However, the best analyst not only knows how to design a mission, but understand vehicle capabilities and how they intersect with our customers requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designing and optimizing complex missions for both endo and exo-atmospheric flight regimes
  • Work with Engineering teams to develop vehicle configurations, mission designs, and performance estimates
  • Work with Business Development to perform customer-focused analyses that show ABL vehicle capabilities and performance
  • Support generation of trajectory deliveries in support of flight safety analyses
  • Support critical operations for launch as trajectory analyst
  • Gather, define, and document requirements to support mission and/or trajectory designs
  • Architect trajectory optimization infrastructure for ease of use and robustness
  • Perform modeling and simulation tasks to validate system design and performance
  • Step up as a leader to be at the forefront of solving the most challenging and impactful technical issues

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. degree from an accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience in the development of aircraft, missile, launch vehicle, or spacecraft trajectory mission design  

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in trajectory planning/design and optimization algorithms or tools (e.g. POST2, OTIS, TAOS)
  • M.S. or PhD degree from an accredited university
  • 8+ years of experience in the development of aircraft, missile, launch vehicle, or spacecraft trajectory mission design
  • Previous experience analyzing and informing launch vehicle or hypersonic vehicle design
  • Broad based experience understanding related fields that inform vehicle trajectory and design
  • Demonstrated skills in modeling, simulation, and analysis software and experience in at least one or more high-level programming languages (e.g. C, C++, or FORTRAN)
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex and difficult technical problems with simple robust solutions

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel to launch and test sites up to 10%
This is the lowest to highest compensation range we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
