Maxar is seeking a highly motivated Agile Scrum Master to join our team in Ypsilanti, MI. In this role, you will lead an agile scrum team of software developers, system engineers, and image scientists to develop customer-specific solutions, internal tools, resolve critical issues, and more using Java, Python, Javascript and similar languages. Successful candidates will have strong leadership and problem-solving skills along with a desire to learn more about Maxar’s technologies, all while working in an Agile development environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply software standards and processes to produce high quality, extensible, and maintainable software packages.
  • Debug, refactor and reimplement existing software codebases into new systems and on new platforms.
  • Participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle, including planning, requirements development, software design, implementation and build, documentation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Effectively collaborate across a diverse team of engineers, product owners, and scrum masters.
  • Participate in and lead peer reviews, Agile ceremonies, and software demonstrations.
  • Effectively work and communicate with the customer, all levels of management, and with individual contributors on the program team.
  • Foster a collaborative mindset within the team by encouraging open communication, teamwork, and a sense of accountability and collective ownership.
  • Ensure the development team follows Scrum values and practices, and educate the team on productivity, self-organization, responsibility, and discipline.
  • Identify, track, and help resolve impediments so the team can stay on track and focused.
  • Ensure Scrum principles are being followed by collaborating with other leadership to make sure day-to-day activities are running smoothly.

Required Qualifications:

  • US citizenship and a current or active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or closely related STEM field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in related fields.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies and processes.
  • Must be willing to work on-site in Ypsilanti, MI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong backend software engineering skills with a history of successfully delivering features and maintaining projects.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools:
    • Sprint planning
    • Atlassian suite (JIRA, confluence) or similar
    • Git (GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket)
  • Experience with any or all the following paradigms/technologies:
    • Java, SQL
    • Containerization - Docker, Kubernetes
    • ORM Frameworks – Hibernate
    • Dependency Injection Frameworks – Spring
    • Amazon Web Services - EC2, SWF, S3, ECS, etc.
  • Ability to work across disciplines to find balanced approaches to technical issues.
  • Frontend experience with any of the following technologies:
    • Typescript/Javascript
    • Web frameworks – React
    • Build tools – Webpack
    • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous development pipelines.
  • Scrum Master Certification.
  • Experience working major DoD and Intelligence Community programs.

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$107,000.00 - $179,000.00 annually.
