Maxar is looking for an Embedded Systems Simulator Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA.  In this role you will work with Hardware and Software developers, Systems Engineers, and Software testers to design simulators used for validating the flight software embedded on commercial and civil satellites performing missions involving communication, earth observation, and lunar gateway activities.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

  • Collaborate with hardware and software leads to understand, capture, and execute on requirements and specifications Design, implement, and integrate hardware and software applications for HWIL testbeds
  • Support deployment and end-users, including creating design documents, user’s manuals, configuration management systems, and real-time troubleshooting
  • Architect hardware and software integration between flight avionics and test systems
  • Design and integrate hardware and software applications for test beds
  • Emphasis on simulators that are integrated into an end-to-end test system with closed-loop testing capability

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical, aerospace/controls engineering, physics or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in product development, integration, and delivery or 3 years professional experience with a related Master's degree.
  • Experience in simulating electrical sensor and actuator signals. Test systems used for validating GN&C control system under closed-loop control
  • Proficiency in embedded systems with experience in designing applications that meet hard/soft real-time and hardware I/O requirements
  • Knowledge of software testing (V&V programs) processes and configuration management systems (Git, SVN, CVS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years professional related experience
  • Experience in software modeling and simulation for various devices on vehicle subsystems
  • Proficiency in electrical design and integration of hardware systems and support equipment (PCB, Harness, IC, Test Equipment)
  • Proficiency in at least one general programming language (C/C++/Python/Java)
  • Strong understanding of general operating systems (Linux, UNIX, Windows)
  • Experience with RTOS (VxWorks, Greenhills Integrity, Real-time Linux, FreeRTOS)
  • Knowledge of legacy hardware and software
  • FPGA design experience

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$113,000.00 - $189,000.00 annually.
